It's great that I've been awarded the Nordic Nature Photo Contest 2024 for the second time, the Nordic Nature Photo Contest 2024 (https://nnpc.no/no/vinnere/246-2024). This time with a third prize in the "birds" class. Especially fun because there are so many entries that are submitted. I was placed with a picture of a peregrine falcon beating a seagull, taken just outside where I live in July-2023. A lovely Friday evening in other words, now I get to celebrate I sent the following text as a basis for the picture: Drama at home. Since I have two peregrine falcon nests not far from where I live, I have the opportunity every summer to study how the adults teach the chicks to hunt. Several times during the high and late summer I see these hunts, but often at higher altitudes and impossible to photograph. The other day it was different. I was tinkering in the cultivation boxes, when I heard loud noises from, what I already then perceived it to be, a baby peregrine falcon. I also heard seagulls screaming loudly. I saw a short distance away that two falcons were chasing some seagulls and were heading in my direction. I left everything I had in my hands and rushed down to the house and got out the camera equipment. I have been through similar events many times and the most common thing is that nothing comes of it at all. But this time it was different. The male falcon chased one of the gulls straight in my direction and got a blow with his claws into the gull and injured it, which allowed the falcon to force the gull down and decided the hunt in no time. All this happened only 25 meters from the house and I managed to do everything and fed on the highest feed with 20 frames / second. The final part of the hunt was over in 2 seconds, where I got a total of 40 pictures, 7 of which were sharp. The cub stayed above the chasing male all the time and followed everything that was going on. I know it can be scary, but this happens several times a day. Nikon Z9, Nikkor Z 800/6.3, shutter speeds between 4000-6000th of a second. #naturephotography #birdphotography #fågelfoto #fågelfotografering

A few days ago, I went for a long hike of about ten kilometers around the Öjemossarna nature reserve on Hunneberg over partly snow-covered and icy ground. This area is one of my absolute favorite places with old-growth forests and the open area in a nice combination. In the middle of this moss complex, I sat down to have some food. No sooner had I sat down than a flock of long-tailed tit came "marching". They were very curious about me and got really close, before they continued their food search, eagerly communicating with their "squealing" sounds. Lovely meeting with some of my absolute favorite birds. #bird #birdsafarisweden #fåglar #fågelfoto

One late evening the moose bull came walking across the field. It was foggy and almost impossible to get a picture. Suddenly a car comes driving with its headlights on in the background, which allowed me to focus on the moose bull and get some pictures #moose #moosepictures #wildlifephotography #wildlifephotographer #wildlifephoto #älg #älgar
